If you are one of those people who gets
your hair permed in order to have a curl and
to create more body and volume, then you have experienced
the problem of having to wait too long before being able to
have another perm. The reason of course is that there should
be little perm left in your hair before perming it again so
as not to over process your hair.
Perming hair that still has most of the
last perm left in the hair makes it porous
or more simply dries out the hair. When that happens your
hair loses some of its elasticity and even with another perm
can't get enough body. So you are caught in a "catch
22" situation. As the hair perm grows out it of course
grows out straight. If you wait until your permanent wave
has grown out completely then you will have no curl or body
in your hair for some time and essentially no hairstyle. Your
hair will look flat and won't hold a style until you have
another perm. This is what you want to avoid.
There is a simple solution to this problem.
Did you know that there is a way to perm only the straight
part of your hair? Many people have never heard of this.
Yet
this is the most fabulous and easy way to always have body
in your hair. It's called a "Root Perm". With
this simple method only the straight roots are permed while
the
rest of the hair which still has a curl does not get permed
and therefore stays healthy.
The nice thing is that a root perm is
not anymore expensive than a regular hair
perm. With this method you can have your roots permed as soon
as your hair has grown an inch or an inch and a half. I can
personally attest to how well this method works as I have
been blessed with straight, fine limp hair. With a root perm,
my hair always looks good.
