You do not need to scrub your scalp to have clean hair

The other day one of my clients had to go to another hair stylist near her home to save  time. The following week she was booked for a hair color. She said Doris, I will have to wait with coloring my hair until my scalp has healed.

She proceeded to tell me that the stylist who shampooed her hair was rubbing her scalp very, very hard and his ring seemed to scrape her scalp at one particular area. She went to a dermatologist to check out the sore area because she was worried that there was something really wrong with her scalp. Actually some skin on one area of her scalp was scraped off.

Considering the discomfort and the inconvenience she experienced she was remarkably nice about it. It took about three weeks to heal.

The reason why I am telling you this story is because most people think that the best way to have clean hair is to rub the scalp vigorously so the dirt particles will be more thoroughly removed.

But if you really understand how a shampoo works then you will also know that this is absolutely not necessary. The shampoo with the aid of water will lift the dirt particles off your scalp and hair by itself. Theoretically you wouldn’t even have to massage the scalp and you still would end up with clean hair.

It is true that one of the pleasures of having your hair shampooed is to have your head massaged. That’s great, as long as you don’t apply too much pressure and rub too hard. You can get more information on how to shampoo hair at http://www.dorismollerhairstyling.com/shampooig-hair.html
